Meet Brooks
5 years old | Utah
Hi! My name is Brooks and I love dinosaurs! I can name every dinosaur and love pretending like I am a T-Rex. At just 3 years old, I could pronounce Terra-dactyl, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Brontosaurus, and many other dinosaur names even though my vocabulary was just a few words. I love playing with my friends and family, especially wrestling with my dad and uncles! I play T-Ball and Soccer, and love to run around outside. I also love to sing songs, especially silly ones. Right now, my very favorite thing to do is go swimming!
Brooks is a very sensitive and affectionate boy, always wanting to cuddle and give hugs to his family and friends. When he gets home from school, the first thing he does is run up to us, give us a big hug and say “I missed you!”. He has an amazing imagination and can pretend play all day long. His memory is very impressive and he is constantly surprising us with how observant he is.
Brooks was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2. He was non-verbal, with a low receptive language understanding, and was sensitive to loud sounds. As hard as the diagnosis was, his parents knew they needed to get him into all the therapies they could so that he could get the early intervention he needed. After 1.5 years of ABA and speech therapy, over 20 hours a week, he has made tremendous progress! Brooks now likes to be social and can play and interact with his family and peers. His speech has come so far and we are so proud of all the hard work he has put in! We love our Brooksy boy!
